The dam you are referring to is the Three Gorges Dam in China on the Yangtze river. Information on it can be read in past issues of the UK published magazine International Water Power and Dam Construction, and also go to the CNN web page and search for Three Gorges. An informative article appeared in about 11 to 17 November 1997.
