Recently we had a leak break out of one of our multiple concrete arch dams. The unusual aspect was it was not a crack, but a hole. The shape was almost an exact fit for a 2x4. I was told that during construction they would use 2x4's inbetween the molds. Since this dam is pretty old, and we don't have much design information available, can someone enlighten me on the construction of these dams. I can only guess that the 2x4 hole was not completely filled in during construction, and after the years finally punched through. Any thoughts on the matter? Is this a quick pressure grout fix? Can I expect anymore problem like this? Thank you in advance for any input you can give me.
