Our family has been houseboating on Lake Powell for 25 years and recently debate has raged between family members over the following question, and we love a qualified engineer to give us the answer:

Is the water level (height above sea level) lower or the same at Glen Canyon Dam than at Hite Marina, which is at the very top of Lake Powell?

One group believes that the water level must be higher at Hite because the marina is located a hundred plus miles "up river" from the dam, even if only slightly (inches, milimeters). And it may also be higher because of a bulge effect of the entering water from the Colorado and Dirty Devil rivers right above the marina.

The other group believes that because Hite and Glen Canyon dam are part of the same lake, the water level would be exactly the same at both places.

Anyone input will be much appreciated.

Thanks.
