The following is the NPDP policy with regard to making current or recent (in the last year) dam incident data available.

State and Federal Dam Safety Officials - Dam incident information is made available to all state and federal dam safety officials (Note, officials must register and login with their user name and password to view this data.).

Other Users - When the NPDP is notified of a dam incident, the name of the dam, its location and the name of the individual who reported the incident (and the organization they work for) is not made public. However, information about the dam (e.g., dam type) and the incident can be viewed by all users.

Information about the dam and the incident will be made available online when any of the following conditions is met:

1. the occurence of the incident is reported in the media (newspaper, magazine, Internet, etc.), or
2. a period of one year has elapsed since the date the incident occurred.
